Dr. George S. Day

Emeritus Professor at the Wharton School

George S. Day is the Geoffrey T. Boisi Professor Emeritus at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  He founded the Mack Institute for Innovation Management at the Wharton School, where he is presently Faculty Emeritus in Residence. He was previously the Executive Director of the Marketing Science Institute and is currently an Academic Trustee. He has consulted to numerous corporations such as General Electric, IBM, Metropolitan Life, Unilever, E.I. DuPont de Nemours, W.L. Gore and Associates, Coca-Cola, Boeing, LG Corp., Best Buy, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, and Medtronic.  He is the past chairman of the American Marketing Association and serves on Boards of Directors including the Free Library of Philadelphia, the Zoological Society of Philadelphia and the Lower Merion Conservancy. He is also the co-chair of the Ag Sustainability Center of the Sonoma County Winegrowers and a Trustee of the Marketing Science Institute. Dr. Day has authored twenty books in the areas of marketing and strategic management, including: Peripheral Vision:  Detecting the Weak Signals that Can Make or Break Your Company (with Paul Schoemaker) 2006, Strategy from the Outside-In: Profiting from Customer Value (with Christine Moorman) 2010, and Innovation Prowess:  Leadership Strategies for Accelerating Growth, 2013.  His most recent book is See Sooner/Act Faster: How Vigilant Leaders Navigate Digital Turbulence (with Paul Schoemaker) 2019. He has won ten best articles award and one best book award, and two of his articles were among the top 25 most influential articles in marketing science in the past 25 years. He was honored with the Charles Coolidge Parlin Award in 1994, the Paul D. Converse Award in 1996, the Sheth Foundation award in 2003, and the Mahajan Award for career contributions to strategy in 2001. In 2004, he received the AMA/Irwin/McGraw-Hill Distinguished Marketing Educator Award.  In 2015 he was chosen as one of eleven “Legends in Marketing,” and in 2017 he was awarded the William L. Wilkie, “Marketing for a Better World” award. In 2020 he was awarded the Sheth Medal, a bi-annual award for exceptional contributions to marketing scholarship and practice.

Richard Lutz

Richard Lutz

JC Penny Professor of Marketing, University of Florida

Richard J. Lutz is Chair of the Marketing Department and the J.C. Penney Professor of Marketing at the University of Florida, where he has taught since 1982. He specializes in the areas of consumer behavior and marketing communications. He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Marketing, all from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is a past president of the Association for Consumer Research and a former Vice President of Publications of the American Marketing Association. He is a past editor of the Journal of Consumer Research and has authored over 100 articles and books. Lutz has taught introductory marketing at the undergraduate level to over 100,000 students and has won the Warrington College of Business Teacher of the Year Award on six occasions. In 2006, he was selected by Business Week as one of the top undergraduate business professors in the nation. He was the UF Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Professor in 2007-2009, and he was named the 2010 AMA Irwin/McGraw-Hill Distinguished Marketing Educator, the highest honor conferred by the AMA for distinguished service and outstanding contributions in marketing education. In 2017 he was named a Fellow of the Association for Consumer Research, its highest honor. Professor Lutz is married to Rachel, with two grown sons, Matt and Jon, both Warrington alums, a granddaughter Claire (6), and a grandson, Jacob (3).
Ruth Bolton

Ruth N. Bolton

President, Sheth Foundation

Ruth N. Bolton is Professor of Marketing at the W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University. She is the recipient of the 2016 American Marketing Association / Irwin / McGraw-Hill Distinguished Marketing Educator Award and the 2007 recipient of the Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions to Services Award. She is in the top 2 percent of the world’s scientists according to a comprehensive list recently released by Stanford University. She previously served as 2009-11 Executive Director of the Marketing Science Institute. Dr. Bolton studies how organizations can improve business performance over time by creating, maintaining and enhancing relationships with customers. Her recent research has focused on the customer experience, multi-channel management and high technology, interactive services sold in global business-to-business markets. She has held academic positions at Vanderbilt University, the University of Oklahoma, Harvard University, University of Maryland, and the University of Alberta. She also spent eight years with Verizon, working on projects in the telecommunications and information services industries.  Dr. Bolton's earlier published articles investigate how organizations' service and pricing strategies influence customer satisfaction, loyalty and revenues. She has extensive experience with survey research design, as well as the econometric analysis of large-scale, integrative data bases.  Her research is typically conducted in partnership with businesses, such as the Marriott Corporation, Hewlett-Packard and Schneider National Inc.  She has also participated in executive education programs around the world. Dr. Bolton has published articles in the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Service Research, Management Science, Marketing Science, and other leading journals.  She previously served as editor of the Journal of Marketing (2002-2005) and Area Editor of the Journal of Marketing Research (2005-2007), as well as serving on the Editorial Review Boards of many leading marketing journals. She has served on the Board of Trustees of the Marketing Science Institute and the Board of Directors of the American Marketing Association. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Sheth Foundation as President and also on the Working Board of Responsible Research in Business and Management (https://www.rrbm.network/). She received her B.Comm., with honors, from Queen's University (Canada), and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Carnegie-Mellon University.

Jagdish N. Sheth

Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Business, Goizueta Business School, Emory University

Jagdish N. Sheth is Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Business in the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. He is globally known for his scholarly contributions in consumer behavior, relationship marketing, competitive strategy, and geopolitical analysis. Professor Sheth has over 50 years of combined experience in teaching and research at the University of Southern California, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Columbia University, MIT, and Emory University. Dr. Sheth is a recipient of the 2020 Padma Bhushan Award for literature and education, one of the highest civilian awards given by the Government of India. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Consumer Research (ACR); Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA); Fellow of the American Marketing Association (AMA); Distinguished Fellow of the Academy of Marketing Science (AMS); and a Distinguished Fellow of International Engineering Consortium. Dr. Sheth is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate in Science, awarded by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2016), and Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy, awarded by Shiv Nadar University (2017). He is the recipient of all four top awards given by the American Marketing Association (AMA). Dr. Sheth has been on the board of several companies including Norstan, Pacwest-Telecom, Cryocell International, Shasun Drugs and Chemicals, and WIPRO Limited. Over the 50 years, he has been advisor to numerous companies including Whirlpool, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Cox Communications, Rockwell International, AT&T, Bellsouth, WIPRO Consumer Care, Aditya Birla Group, L.M. Mittal (Avanta), E&Y, Square D, Ingram Micro, Hughes Corporation, and others. This has included mergers and acquisitions as well as strategic positioning or repositioning of the company. His Rule of Three book has been the foundation for investment bankers and policy makers with respect to industry consolidation including horizontal mergers and acquisitions. Professor Sheth has authored or coauthored more than three hundred papers and several books including Clients for Life (2000), The Rule of Three (2002), Tectonic Shift (2006), Self-Destructive Habits of Good Companies (2007), Firms of Endearment (2007), Chindia Rising (2011), The 4 As of Marketing (2012), Breakout Strategies for Emerging Markets (2016), The Sustainability Edge (2016), and Genes, Climate and Consumption Culture: Connecting the Dots (2017). His autobiography, The Accidental Scholar (2014), has inspired others in the areas of education and academic entrepreneurship. Professor Sheth has been advisor to the Government of Singapore in repositioning the nation for the future. He has also been the policy advisor to the U.S. Government about the future of the telecommunications industry. Dr. Sheth is the Founder of Center for Telecommunications Management (CTM) at University of Southern California (USC) which has now become an Institute. He is also Founder and Chairman of India, China, and America (ICA) Institute which analyzes the trilateral relationship and its impact on geopolitics, security, trade, and investment. Professor Sheth and his wife, Madhu Sheth, have established the Sheth Family Foundation to support several charities in India and in the United States. They have also established the Madhuri and Jagdish Sheth Foundation to support scholars and scholarship in the field of marketing. The Sheth Foundation supports the AMA-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium, hosted annually by different universities. It also supports research in emerging fields through AMA, ACR, AMS, and AIB. Finally, Professor Sheth is the Founder and Chairman of the Academy of Indian Marketing (AIM) which supports research and scholarship among Indian scholars in marketing and management.
Paul Scohemaker

Paul Schoemaker

Author, Academic and Entrepreneur

Paul  Schoemaker is an author, educator, researcher and entrepreneur in strategic management, decision making and leadership. He was among the first to combine the practical ideas of decision theory, behavioral economics, scenario planning and risk analysis into a set strategic tools and methods for managers. Paul was the founder and executive chairman of Decision Strategies International, a 25 year old strategy consulting and training firm, as well as the Chairman of two other companies in Europe and the USA. Paulserved for many years as the research director of the Mack Institute for Innovation Management at the Wharton School, where he was also an adjunct professor teaching strategy and decision making. He is internationally known for his 100+ articles and eleven books on decision making, leadership, innovation and strategy, including the landmark book Winning Decisions.  Paul also writes a periodic column for Inc.com which has attracted up to 2 million page views. Earlier, Paul was a professor at the University of Chicago for 12 years, where he did leading academic work in the Center for Decision Research and became a highly cited scholar (top 1% globally).  Paul’s hobbies include tennis, golf, and piano.  He lives with his wife on the east coast of the US, while retaining roots in the Netherlands, where he was born and raised.  Paul is started a new company in predictive analytics, including subjective forecasting, and recently finished a book with George Day showing how leaders can see sooner and act faster in an age of digital turbulence.
Dave Reibstein

The William S. Woodside Professor and Professor of Marketing, The Wharton School

Professor David J. Reibstein is the William S. Woodside Professor and Professor of Marketing at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.  He was previously on the faculty at Harvard Business School, and a visiting Professor at Stanford Business School, and INSEAD in France. Professor Reibstein’s research focuses on competitive marketing strategies, marketing metrics, branding, and product line decisions, among other issues. His research on competitive marketing strategies addresses competitors’ reactions to marketing actions, offering companies insight into ways to anticipate these reactions and use them as a part of strategizing. His marketing metrics work has focused on linking marketing metrics to financial consequences, resulting in his widely read book Marketing Metrics: The Manager’s Guide to Measuring Marketing Performance. He has authored numerous articles appearing in major marketing journals, including Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Harvard business Review, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Marketing and Journal of Consumer Research. Professor Reibstein has run executive programs for over 300 companies around the world. He has been actively involved as a consultant with a number of major companies as well as several startups.  Professor Reibstein was a co-founder of Bizrate.com (Shopzilla) and on the founding board of And1, the basketball apparel company.  He has also served on the board of The Fleisher Art Institute, and several other companies. Dave was appointed by Bud Selig, the commissioner of Major League Baseball, to a Blue Ribbon Special Task Force working to address the issues facing MLB today. Professor Reibstein has been researching the economic impact of the brands of nations. In January 2016, he released the inaugural Best Countries report at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. In partnership with U.S. News & World Report and WPP’s BAV Consulting, the Best Countries report ranked 60 top nations based on the perceptions of 16,000+ global participants.  Most recently, the fourth edition of the Best Countries was released in Washington, D.C. Professor Reibstein is the Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Marketing Association. A former Executive Director of the Marketing Science Institute, he consults extensively with companies worldwide, including Google, British Airlines, Genentech, Roche Pharmaceuticals, GE, Lutron, and Dow Chemical. He is currently a board member of the Philadelphia Ballet. He was the host for the weekly radio show Measured Thoughts on Wharton Business Radio, Channel 132 on SiriusXM, which can be seen on www.measuredthoughts.com. Professor Reibstein is a dynamic, award-winning teacher who has been honored with more than 30 teaching awards. In 2005, he received the John S. Day Distinguished Alumni Academic Service Award from Purdue University's Krannert School of Management, an honor given to a graduate whose service within the academic community reflects the spirit and service of former Krannert Dean John Day. His teaching interests include Marketing Strategy in the MBA Program, as well as teaching Competitive Marketing Strategy, Marketing Metrics, Pricing Strategies, and other programs for Wharton Executive Education. Professor Reibstein received his Ph.D. from Purdue University and his B.S. and B.A. degrees from the University of Kansas.

S.C. Johnson Professor of International Marketing

Philip Kotler is Professor Emeritus of Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management, where he held the S.C. Johnson & Son Professorship of International Marketing.  Kellogg was voted the "Best Business School" for six years in Business Week's survey of U.S. business schools. It is also rated as the "Best Business School for the Teaching of Marketing." Professor Kotler has significantly contributed to Kellogg's success through his many years of research and teaching there. He received his Master's Degree at the University of Chicago and his PhD Degree at MIT, both in economics. He did post-doctoral work in mathematics at Harvard University and in behavioral science at the University of Chicago. Professor Kotler is the author of 57 books including: Marketing Management: Analysis, Planning, Implementation and Control,the most widely used marketing book in graduate business schools worldwide; Principles of Marketing; Marketing Models; Strategic Marketing for Nonprofit Organizations; The New Competition; High Visibility; Social Marketing; Marketing Places; Marketing for Congregations; Marketing for Hospitality and Tourism; The Marketing of Nations; Kotler on Marketing, Building Global Biobrands, Attracting Investors, Ten Deadly Marketing Sins, Marketing Moves, Market Your Way to Growth, Winning Global Markets, and Confrontiing Capitalism. He has published over one hundred and fifty articles in leading journals, several of which have received best-article awards. Professor Kotler was the first recipient of the American Marketing Association's (AMA) "Distinguished Marketing Educator Award" (1985). The European Association of Marketing Consultants and Sales Trainers awarded Kotler their prize for "Marketing Excellence". He was chosen as the "Leader in Marketing Thought" by the Academic Members of the AMA in a 1975 survey. He also received the 1978 "Paul Converse Award" of the AMA, honoring his original contribution to marketing. In 1989, he received the Annual Charles Coolidge Parlin Marketing Research Award. In 1995, the Sales and Marketing Executives International (SMEI) named him "Marketer of the Year."  In 2011, he was given the title of being a Legend in Marketing; in 2012, he was #1 on the Management A-List of Academics; in 2013 he became the first recipient of the William L. Wilkie American Marketing Association Foundation's "Marketing for a Better World" Award for significant contributions to marketing theory and practice; also in 2013, he was inducted into the Management Hall of Fame; also in 2013, he became the first recipient of the Sheth Foundation Medal for Exceptional Contribution to Marketing Scholarship and Practice. Professor Kotler has consulted for such companies as IBM, General Electric, AT&T, Honeywell, Bank of America, Merck and others in the areas of marketing strategy and planning, marketing organization and international marketing. He has been Chairman of the College of Marketing of the Institute of Management Sciences, a Director of the American Marketing Association, a Trustee of the Marketing Science Institute, a Director of the MAC Group, a former member of the Yankelovich Advisory Board, and a member of the Copernicus Advisory Board. He is a Member of the Board of Governors of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Member of the Advisory Board of the Drucker Foundation. He has received honorary doctoral degrees from the Stockholm University, University of Zurich, Athens University of Economics and Business, DePaul University, the Cracow School of Business and Economics, Groupe H.E.C. in Paris, the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna, Budapest University of Economic Science and Public Administration, and the Catholic University of Santo Domingo. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and South America, advising and lecturing to many companies about how to apply sound economic and marketing science principles to increase their competitiveness. Patty and Jay H. Baker Professor of Marketing, The Wharton School

Barbara is Patty and Jay H. Baker Professor of Marketing at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She served two terms as the Director of the Jay H. Baker Retailing Center. Prior to rejoining Wharton in 2011, Barbara served as the Dean and Schein Professor of Marketing at the School of Business Administration, University of Miami (from 2007 to 2011).  Before becoming Dean at UM, she spent 17 years at Wharton as Silberberg Professor of Marketing.  She was also Vice Dean of the Wharton Undergraduate program. Barbara is an internationally recognized scholar on retailing, variety seeking, brand loyalty, product assortment and design, and consumer and patient decision-making. She has published more than 75 articles in leading academic journals. She co-authored Grocery Revolution: The New Focus on the Consumer, and authored Global Brand Power: Leveraging Branding for Long-Term Growth, and The Shopping Revolution: How Successful Retailers Win Customers in an Era of Endless Disruption, both published by Wharton Digital Press (the latter forthcoming in mid-2018). Barbara has been elected president of Association for Consumer Research, elected president of Journal of Consumer Research (JCR) Policy Board and selected as a Marketing Science Institute Trustee. She was also an Associate Editor at JCR, Journal of Marketing, and Marketing Science. She has recently been elected as a Fellow for both the Association of Consumer Research and the Society of Consumer Psychology. Mark Day

Executive Vice President, Research & Development

Mark J. Day serves as iRhythm’s Executive Vice President of Research & Development and has had other leadership roles in Research & Development and systems development since joining in 2007. Previously he worked in Medtronic’s Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management division. Prior to that, Mr. Day was Chief Technical Officer of CarePages, Inc., a blogging site for patients. Mr. Day has an M.B.A. in Marketing from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, a Ph.D. in Computation Flow Physics from Stanford University, and also received an M.S. from Stanford, and a B.Sc. from Queen’s University, both in Mechanical Engineering.

Executive Coach

Alice Day is a serial entrepreneur turned Executive Coach. She started out designing, executing and marketing Outpatient Treatment programs while maintaining a private psychotherapy practice in Northern Virginia  1980 to 1991. Alice moved to Villanova, Pennsylvania and was the Founder and President of a Marketing and Advertising Firm (1996 to 2008). She blended the 2 careers into an Executive Coaching practice (2016 - current). Alice is also  involved in Philanthropic efforts in the Philadelphia area. She serves on the Board of the Pennsylvania Ballet (Chair of Development) and serves on the Board of Associated Services for the Blind.
